Northern Ballet presents the world premiere of new ballet Gentleman Jack; the extraordinary story of Anne Lister

A powerful Yorkshire woman, it was only after her death when her secret diaries were decoded that a truly exceptional life was uncovered. Described by some as the “first modern lesbian”, Anne lived, dressed and loved as she desired, not as 19th century society expected her to. With her words dancing across the page, she vividly chronicled her adventures, heartbreaks and triumphs.

Inspiring biographies, novels, a hit TV series and now a ballet, this thrilling production choreographed by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa is performed to new live music by Peter Salem.

The prize draw closes at 23:59 on the 5th April 2026. There will be one winner of the prize.which consisted of two tickets to the opening night of Gentleman Jack at Sadler’s Wells on Tuesday 19 May 2026. Plus a one night stay for two at Thistle Holborn including breakfast. Travel and any other expenses not included and there is no cash alternative. At least one guest must be over the age of 18. All elements of the prize are subject to availability. A winner will be selected at random week commencing 6th April 2026 and contacted by a representative of Bicycle Partnerships Ltd.
